I'd like to see Moon Unit and Lenny H's band play on the same bill,
Well done Hen!

Very tempted to head down, as I know this will be a fabbydoozer. I've a sore eye though, which might stop me.
Alan - Richard M and myself are popping down. Might have to sample a real ale first though...

oh my god, Drat!!! how could i forget...wonder what those guys up to now? thats prompted me to go look!
and yeah Opaque, how unexpected was that! for those unfamiliar, one of the guys, Lee, now goes under the name of Kylie Minoise, whom im sure you have heard of
aye Opaque were great, loud and so hard to recognise with those face masks - their set @ Drakes (or part of it) is available from Kovorox as part of a 4 CD boxset job. Opaque did play in Tunnels 2 a couple of years back, but I preferred the Drakes gig.
OPAQUE - THE CULT OF SURVIVORS
I remember Ballboy, Soulo, Bill Thomson's first Adeen gig and loads of IMP related gigs...

What do you think?
I liked a record that seemed to be Seven Ways to Make You Jack that I heard on an Essential Mix years and years ago. It worked well in the mix but I never tried to find out more. I suppose it would be proto-house or somesuch genre?

I think the dog in the road was filmed in China or Korea. Quite an effective bit of film!

Warner Jepson is worth checking out as well,

'member they found a head on Barrasie Beach in Troon a few years back as well. I was on that beach just not long before they found it. Creepy. Weird place Troon. I was there on a night out visiting friends, I went to the toilets in a night club (the only nightclub), some bloke tried to get off with me, then the next time I went to the toilets I got head butted by some random, then back in the bar I met probably the ugliest, fattest chick I've ever seen, who I then went home with and shagged in her creepy bedroom that was done up like a little kid's bedroom and was fll of teddies and dolls, afterwards she locked me in her house and wouldn't let me leave, I had to make a break for it and I ended up wandering around the streets for two hours cos I had no idea where I was staying. Fun times!
(Edit - actually having looked it up that wasn't a few years ago, it was in 1999)
This could be an Arab Strap track....

Last night was really awesome. Where did all these people come from who were there, they should goto shows like this more often
a good attendance - but loads of music fans seemed to talk all the way thru Gira

This is proper old fashioned funk. James is a real showman who combines Fela Kuti's charm, Mark E Smith's jowel and a healthy dose of free jazz. At his most entertaining contorting with his wife he is an excellent dancer. Like Lee Perry he directs his band with a flick of his finger. The Contortions are very cool and purvey their angular brand of soul to the willing audience. Chance may not have film star looks, but he's up there with kings like James Caan and Albert Ayler.
- in other words I liked it....
Did anyone else spot the Black Sabbathism's during the set? Or was it just freetibet and myself?

Opaque at this gig will consist of:
Lee Cummings (Kylie Minoise, Kovorox Records)
Sinky (Temple of Static Christ, WWCat)
Rory Sanachen (Nackt Insecten)
John Cromar (Noma)
Alastair Crosbie (Solo Glasgow musician - highly recommend his stuff if you haven't heard it)
I think that's right.
sounds like a who's who of the Scottish anti-noise scene... I shall attend,

last night was the best ive seen mark e smith, for a fair few years
tunnels sound was great for them
even MES's knob twiddling made sense for once....

Like Lepeep I went just to see Dub Trio and really enjoyed their set. Very talented band with an interesting take on dubcore, an update of Bad Brains if you will. Amazing bass sound - I wonder if they like dubstep??
More ROIR acts would be welcomed at the Tunnels...
I never stayed for Skindred - enjoyed DT too much and was rather tired,
Dave
I paid my 8 quid just to see dub trio, and I was very happy to part with the cash. I don't think they dissapointed at all. so tight, amazing riffs (last two songs especially)...shame mr Patton didn't make an entrance.... he he.Laughed so much at the first 3 songs of skindred, wished I was 18 again, and went home not wanting to taint the memories of dub trio.
great band, great sound, great LP.
peep
ps...the art...poor bugger. performance works always generate sympathy in me...oh the sheer pointlessness of it all.

Thanks to everybody who came down to this.
There is a small review of the Infest gig in Glasgow which both Noma and Wouinded Knee played at in this months copy of The Wire magazine if it interests anybody.
there should hopefully be a review on Planet Sound of Sunday's gig at some point...
-
thanks that was a really nice low key gig which went smoothly - you canna beat sitting on a sofa at a gig......

I'll aim to get a ticket for this @ James Y on Saturday. How was London Graeme?

Kudos on not providing us with another faux yanky accent!
some rock kids like to speak American even though they are from Cults / Banchory / Milltimber.....

For having the most yummy band memeber' date=' not being the most yummy band member (what a blow for Amy, beaten by Stuart)[/quote']
Sounds like cannibalism @ the Neepsound awards....

It's more like The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards play the hits of Enya. In a gimp suit.
Riverdance in a gimp suit? You are warped....
BTW French someone on wiki is disputing the folktronica and dubtronica genre entries. Feel free to box their ears....

Electronic Folk fae Luxembourg coming soon
ttp://www.myspace.com/cyberpiper
Is electronic folk the same as folktronica?
-
there might be a review of Lach on Planet Sound some time soon....

For future reference if I'm doing this again and band have to pull out for whatever reason I will post the changes here. I really can't afford to make up new posters and put them up everywhere a week before the event. In future I'll put a list of acts reflecting any line up changes at the door. Ryan' date=' if you liked the Julius Seizure stuff you might also enjoy Noma's music (he was the guy stage left with the mask on) [url']http://www.myspace.com/noma1
Cheers for doing those reviews Dave although you know I was kind of hoping for a two page spread in Wire! Maybe if I can coerce Merzbow into playing next time.
Cheers to everyone who came along. I'll hopefully do another one soon.
One review on Planet Sound today (JS) - don't think the other will be published, but you never know...
to get published / reviewed in the Wire - involve Barry Esson, Brian Morton or David Keenan in either the organisation or bands.
Dave

Well I saw the middle three acts and really enjoyed them. I've submitted reviews of two of them to Planet Sound but doubt if they'll publish them as they've just changed format et al but you never know...
thanks for putting the bands on Donny!
cheers

I'm always 'dolled up'' date=' as you know. I think I'll dress like Kane himself, and go as a mormon:up:[/quote']
Kitchen Cynic becomes part time Archie Norman would make a great headline.....

Stig were just amazing - one of the most interesting bands I've seen in a long time.
Barberos were just wild and amazing. The live dubstep bass on one track was rather good...
