I've been pretty middling all season. Not had any really great weeks bit no disasters either. Last week I had a few good scorers and had potential to do well but about 4 guys only got one point and ballsed that up.

Why didn't they just stay in the brew dog bar if that's what they wanted?

I've tried one of their beers once, the label left much more of an impression than the beer. I'll always remember it for being a load of absolute wank.

Back on the thread's main topic I've been listening to The Libertines a bit the last couple of days, first time in ages. The debut is a belter and the second one decent too. Also been listening to a lot of Girls Aloud (forgot how good Out of Control is) and The Field. Plus the new Sky Ferreira and Charlixcx singles are still being played numerous times a day.

She did film a scene actually for the final episode but it got cut. She didn't have any lines just a shot of her looking at a picture of her husband and sobbing. Sadly for her Huell will be in that room forever.

Admittedly I rarely have an idea of what is doing well in the charts but I can't remember the last time I was aware of a big selling cover version.

I'm really considering getting rid of RVP but I'm not quite sure. I could replace him with someone else great and still free up a bit of extra cash to strengthen elsewhere but I know he'll soon start banging in hat-tricks and I'll kick myself.

OK I can see what you;re saying to an extent, but how do you judge whether someone is writing something because that's what they want to do or just because they want money. Who's to say Snow Patrol wouldn't have gone in that direction anyway whether or not they did find success. You say they wrote bland ballads because people bought run, but they wrote run in the first place which to me at least is a bland ballad. It just doesn't really seem worth the effort thinking about, people will like it or they wont, what it sounds like is a lot more important than why it was made. And do you have any evidence that cover versions sell more than originals?

So what if people want their music to be inoffensive? Is that how music is supposed to be judged by how offensive it is? What does offensive even mean when it comes to music? Music is not worth less or any less art just because you don't like it.

Statements like "they're only for people who don't really like music" are probably the worst examples of music snobbery. Who the fuck is anyone to say how much someone else likes or cares about music?

Surely if someone is sharing an article it's clear they think it's something worth reading and doesn't need much extra comment. I don't see much wrong with that. But I can see how someone doing it all the time could be annoying and pointless really.

I didn't think Teachers had aged badly actually. It some ways it is definitely of it's time but the writing is really strong so it holds up as a quality programme.

Maybe if it's still getting good reviews later in the season I'll jump back in but for just now I'm out. I watched Girls btw. Liked it a lot, most of the time anyway. Think I preferred the first season but it was all entertaining. Been rewatching Teachers too which I hadn't seen since it was first on, I'd forgot how good it is actually. First two seasons with the original characters anyway.

Wouldn't have happened if Princess Di was still alive.
