  1. If I was a player I'd want to play for the country I felt most attached to but I don't really blame a player for choosing a secondary country if it's their only chance at playing in a world cup. Like the English guy who played for some league 1 side that got to the world cup with Trinidad and Tobago. I think it happened in the 2001/2002 season last. Or around about then.
  2. I didn't even dislike him that much when he was playing. Mostly since he became the most awful pundit on tv.
  3. It wasn't cunt that hurt it was the sir. I'd never dream of accepting a knighthood.
  4. You wont get any arguments from me that some of the English media can be completely awful and at time horrible when it comes to the national team but I still don't agree with his decision. Maybe it even does make sense. I'll admit my thoughts on the issue are based on my emotional feelings about it rather than any logic but if I always thought about football in logical ways I wouldn't care nearly as much.
  5. The likes of Carson should be embarrassed to "retire" from international football.
  6. Oh right. Shearer is though. Just because he was a decent striker doesn't stop that.
  7. Didn't know that, I'd understood that he went to the FA without knowing anything about Roy's plans. However I still don't like that he retired for that reason. I suppose I like to believe that footballers despite being professionals still retain some of the love of the game that they must have had as kids growing up. The same kind that most fans have. I like to think that all players grew up dreaming off playing for their country at a world cup or euros and would have done anything to get there. I find it a bit sad that once they are older some players stop caring about that. 3rd choice goalkeeper John Ruddy, who has almost no chance of playing, offered to cancel his wedding so he wouldn't miss any training and one of the friendlies. That's what I'm talking about!
  8. Oh that's a good point. I don't think he was known that long ago was he. I must have wrong information. She mentions being 13 in that song anyway.
  9. You were saying that him pulling out doesn't matter because he's never used for England. I was saying that he didn't know how he would be used by the new coach so that shouldn't really be a reason.
  10. But with a new coach coming in Carrick could not have know whether he was wanted or not. He's pre-empted Roy's first squad by trying to impose conditions on his selection. Roy might have been thinking of using him in an important role but then rightly decided that he wont be told what to do.
  11. She is young though. The Justin Beiber track was uploaded 6 years ago when she was 13!
  12. That's a good point, I think it matters more when the country really needs a player. Like England could have used Scholes in the last few tournaments. I think it's fair enough if say an Italian or Spanish player near the end of their career retried after winning the world cup. Go out on a high and they know there are other good players to take their place.
  13. How much of a dick does it make me that I've decided not to like that band based solely on the still picture shown before you press play on the youtube video?
  14. Who put salt on your cornflakes this morning?
  15. Whether it's the top level or not it is what the majority of people care about the most. He's being a cunt for putting himself ahead of his country. Players like him, scholes, shearer are all cunts for retiring from international football. The more we have like king becks who want to play until they die the better.
  16. I meant to post this last week but forgot. The last Guardian Joy of Six article was about last day relegation battles and it brought this to my attention. The tightest league ever. Back in the days of 2 points for a win, after the season finished only 2 points separated the teams from 2nd to 15th in a 16 team league and the bottom team were only 1 point further back. It's so close that there are teams in the top half who survived relegation thanks to goal difference. Here's the table http://www.rsssf.com/miscellaneous/even.html Can you imagine Jeff Stelling keeping you updated on the latest standings as the goals flew in on that final day?

  18. Yeah I could see it actually being quite successful in the UK if it gets some radio play.
  19. The Ataris are (were?) fucking awful!
  20. What a fucking awful squad. Ridiculous picks. Carrol should be nowhere bloody near that plane. But still a hell of a lot closer than Downing.
  21. especially if he doesn't love "I love it" yet.
  22. I read about that show. It said one of the women didn't even meet any of the men. She just has a wishlist online and men send her stuff. Can't really get my head round that. Any stupid women out there that want to send me stuff?
  23. I don't really go very often and if I do it's usually to raid the 1 euro menu. I think the last time I had a Big Mac was a time I thought it might help a hangover and it just made me feel completely awful. But with all the loyalty talk going on in the football thread I'm not going to be any glory hunter and switch to BK just because I didn't like how the McDonalds went down.
  24. Big Mac >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Whopper As their flagship burger the whopper is just a whole load of shit.
