In principle I don't have a problem with remakes as I think they can often be a good idea. But it does seem that these days many in Hollywood have got too comfortable and become lazy. Preventing good original material from being made and also a laziness which is affecting the quality of the remakes.

Yeah I've seen Treme. It is great. Great characters and really interesting engaging viewing. I loved the stuff about the Mardi Gras indians. And the music is just all unbelievably good. Second season starts in the US in a month or two I think. The corner can be tough viewing but is definitely rewarding by the end.

I find it strange thinking about what as a child I imagined the future to be like. It was always about flying cars. There just had to be flying cars in the future. What would be the point of the future if there were no flying cars? Might as well just stay in the present. I remember often having conversation about what the year 2000 would be like. Obviously it just had to be very different from what 1999 would be like.

Mostly it's just the normal backlash against something very successful isn't it? Personally I find everything they've done aside from some of the first album pretty dire.
