Yeah people over here are pretty pissed off too, especially on the back of the two failed Madrid Olympic bids. There's obviously major problems within FIFA and with this voting process but the way the English team is now shouting about them is making them look like sore losers. They might have been best staying quiet for at least a couple of days and then airing their complaints in a more ordered manner. I have nothing against the idea of bringing the tournament to new areas of the world, but that should always be balanced against maintaining the integrity and quality of the tournament.

Public Holidays. Even more so lots of public holidays at once! I've got a 5 day weekend Going to Madrid for a few days to visit a couple of friends, this will hopefully be very ace-ic.

I was actually really surprised by how much I like the Beach House album because I didn't really take to the previous one that much. I'm really awful at describing what it is I like about certain music though, so I wont bother trying.

The only music I have on itunes is the music I've downloaded since I bought this laptop in March. So 2010 would easily have the most music. This year has been really great, but I think that's in part just because I've been more proactive in listening to new music this year than I have been in a while. 2007 was really great, Radiohead, Animal Collective, Panda Bear, M.I.A, Of Montreal, Pantha Du Prince, deerhoof, Liars, The National. Some of those I didn't hear until later though.

Once they build all 8 of their stadiums there'll barely be enough room to squeeze a team bus through them. Realistically I think Scotland would have to team up with another country, I don't think a joint bid with Ireland would be too far fetched. Now Landsdowne Road has been done up they have 2 large stadiums which would add to our 4 and only require building 1 more in each. Joint bids seem to be looked down on a little bit now though. Scotland may have sectarian problems, but Russia is extremely racist and homosexuality is illegal in Qatar so maybe our bigotry would be seen as a plus.

Both choices were clearly only driven by $$$$. The "Let's Kick Racism Out of Football" campaign has taken a bit of a kicking since the attitude of the Russian authorities has pretty much been to just deny that a racism problem even exists in the country. I once landed in Qatar to catch a connecting flight. I think I saw the whole country out the window. England and Spain/Portugal were clearly the two good bids for 2018 but England should have got it since Spain had it much more recently. Australia would have ticked most of the fifa boxes, first world cup in the continent and a rapidly growing football audience etc and they would have the infrastructure. Less oil than Qatar I suppose. And on the debate of manager influence, as was already mentioned, I think the Scolari to Hiddink era at Chelsea shows clearly the difference that can be made by a different coach. Without even looking at tactics I think the fact that the players hated Scolari and liked Hiddink was the major factor in the rapid change in form.

Skill and technique are in low supply throughout the whole league. The players do have to take a lot of blame for their poor performance in the other areas that you mentioned but they are also attributes which I think can be heavily affected by the coaching staff. Get a new boss in who knows what he's doing, the players respect and are happy to work for and I think the dons will go up the table soon enough. I'm not saying we should be certain for the top 6, we might finish 7th 8th or 9th but we should at least be in the fight come the final few games before the split. Who the right man is though I have no idea.

Getting away from the bottom will obviously be the immediate priority for the new manager, but I think he should still be coming in with the aim of finishing top 6. There's enough talent in the squad to do so.
