Self titled albums are fine with me for debuts, any album after that is just wrong though. There are a few exceptions though when the band's name does just seem to be right for the album. The Beatles is probably the best example.

A pretty great year for music. Even though many albums I was really looking forward to, turned out to be disappointments. (Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene, jj, El Guincho). Thankfully there were more than enough pleasant surprises to make up for this. I didn't include EPs but Animal Collective's "Fall Be Kind" and "Sometimes this blues is just a passing bird" by The Tallest Man on Earth were both really great, so deserve a mention. I was wondering when this thread would pop up. I'll type a list later when I shouldn't be doing marking. Tallest Man Earth will definitely be there, TWICE! Because I'll include the EP which was fantastic too. Unfortunately he's playing a gig here tomorrow which I'll miss due to work.

How long do you spend deciding what to get for a tattoo? I've got nothing against tattoos but I can't see myself ever getting one. I'm pretty rubbish at basic daily decisions like what to eat for dinner. I can't imagine being able to decide on one thing to get printed on my body for the rest of my life. Which brings me on to something else, how possible / easy / expensive is tattoo removal? A tattoo would look rubbish on my little girly arms anyway.

I wonder if that argument would stand up in court when filing for bankruptcy.

Started this at the weekend and I'm 5 episodes in. I'm hooked already, it's really great. Even this early on feel a strong connection to the characters, if as I've heard this gets better as it goes on this could challenge the Sopranos as greatest TV drama that isn't the wire.

It didn't. There has been some good stuff at times but overall I've actually come to be quite disappointed with this. The main story lines have continued to focus on characters I've failed to become interested in and not enough time has been given to the most interesting characters the show does have. I'll continue to watch to the end of the season, but I've lost most of the hope I had early on.

I liked this alot too. Much better than the 6th one which I was disappointed by. It seems like the decision to split the book in two was actually a very good decision from a quality point of view and not just a money spinner. A much better pace than the previous couple which seemed to be trying to cram so much in. Since seeing this I've actually re-watched the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th films. (i'd seen 4 not that long ago on tv and I'll give 6 another watch too). I'd probably rate the 3rd as the best with this new one just behind it. fwiw I've never read the books so I'm not judging in relation to parts being cut or changed etc [edit] oh and I really want to see that Che film. Can't believe I've never got round to it.

Aberdeen's weather is shit, it should be complained about. Although it can be great, snow is ace and a good summers day in the north east can be almost perfect. The days of grey cloudy skies, strong winds and relatively low temperatures that fill most of the year are really crap though.

nah, as much as him playing the same role in a new film every 3 months grates a little bit, Arrested Development alone will always keep him as a good guy. Superbad was fun too.
