  1. Did you know that there's a direct correlation between the decline of Spirograph and the rise in gang activity?
  2. A Simpsons quotes thread because it's an embarrassment to us all that we don't already have one! Share your favourite moments. One of my favourite episodes which I just recently watched is Lemon of Troy. The delivery on that last line is so great. and
  3. Strikes. Not normally a thing I'd moan about but the people who work on the trains I take to work have been going over board lately and it's getting fucking annoying.
  4. Jam Sandwiches are great but paying (what I'm only assuming will be a stupid price) for one is ridiculous when everyone should have a loaf of bread and a pot of Jam in their house. Maybe not everyone but if you're the type of person who likes jam Sandwiches, you should.
  5. Spain losing so heavily was a bit of a shock. A team shouldn't keep the same coach after winning the world cup, get a new guy in who has to try and prove himself, there might at least be a little chance of motivating the players for all the matches which probably seem irrelevant compared to the WC final. Portugal do seem to be doing better since Quieroz was booted though. Blanc's doing well with France after axing some of the deadwood, Capello should take note. Arsenal Spurs on Saturday lunchtime should be good, it's a shame those early kick off's always seem to be dull games. Speaking of Spurs Some hilarious comments in this interview with VdV. The Dutch playmaker said: "Harry is a very special man, that's why I already feel at home at Spurs. It feels like I'm back on the street. "There are no long and boring speeches about tactics, like I was used to at Real Madrid. "There is a clipboard in our dressing room but Harry doesn't write anything on it! "It's very relaxed. The gaffer gives us the line-up 20 minutes before we go out to do our warm-up. "And the only words he speaks to me are 'You play left or right, work hard, have fun and show the fans your best'. "Then the defenders get an instruction about who to mark at corners and free-kicks - and that's it." The Dutch Master, who has hit seven goals already this season, says training at Tottenham is equally low-key. He added: "It's not that we do nothing - but it's close to that."
  6. Ha Would have been more believable if you'd picked The Blueprint. But I did believe you anyway, so THERE....to ME Nicki Minaj's verse is still the highlight for me speaking of Jay Z his verse on the same track is one of the weakest moments on the album. I thought there would be more people talking about this, I seem to remember a lot of people contributing to a hip-hop thread quite recently and this is definitely the biggest hip-hop release of the year. Only 2 people reply and one of them is an impostor Anyway this has definitely taken over Late Registration as my fave Ye album and probably beats Tallest Man on Earth as my top album of 2010 too.
  7. Daft Punk - Harder Better Faster Stronger
  8. He's taken wrong to a whole new level. I haven't actually heard that album but I know he's wrong
  9. I know British prisons are already pretty overcrowded but anyone who buys one of those sandwiches should definitely be locked up.
  10. Nani gets a great Ronaldo goal disallowed. YouTube - Cristiano Ronaldo Goal Vs Spain
  11. The run of Power - All The Lights - Monster is awesome. This is the only thing I've been listening to since I got it.
  12. Vote for your favourite goal of the last year FIFA.com - The FIFA Pusks Award Swedish guy gets my vote, incredible goal.
  13. Why the hate for Abidal? So who impressed for Scotland tonight?
  14. The biggest ego in music is back with a really really great album. It lives up to all the hype and might make a challenge for my favourite album of the year. I'll need to listen to it a bit more first though. A few tracks in particular have beats which are absolutely incredible. Nicki Minaj's verse on Monster is just amazing and making Bon Iver not sound out of place on a hip hop album is an achievement in itself. I can't really pick a favourite track, but this is certainly one of the stand outs. YouTube - Kanye West- Power
  15. Some good language pet hates in the last few pages. I agree "Should of" is one which bugs me sometimes. The worst for me is double the double comparative, e.g more shorter. I am disappointed when my students at an intermediate level make a mistake like that. Native English speakers who get paid to speak on TV making those mistakes is terrible. Also Redknapp aversion to adverbs is awful too. Agreed on cunt being a great word. One of my fave things about spanish is that the directly translated word is not nearly as socially unacceptable and you will often hear people saying something like "What the cunt are you doing?" Great phrase.
  16. Of Montreal - The past is a grotesque animal
  17. taking off Malouda is never an option, that was a Benitez substitution.
  18. This guy was prepared and new what was going to happen today Chelsea still had great players out there but that midfield three just hasn't been doing it lately. Ramires especially has been disappointing recently. They did well without him for a while but Lampard is really being missed now. I can see more points being dropped before a return to form once Lamps and Essien are back. I didn't see the game but it looks like Madrid were a little lucky tonight.
  19. I was always a little behind with consoles so when I had a snes the cool kids were getting the first playstations / N64's. Solid Gold on Holburn Street used to sell second hand games without packaging for a fiver. Also I was shit at Street Fighter too. I was one of those annoying kids who would just go E-Honda and use his fast slap move all the time.
  20. I want them to get any coach that gets them playing some decent football but doesn't win anything. I'm going to end up watching plenty more of their games this season and I don't want them all to be super dull affairs. Plus they do have some players I like that I'd like to see used properly (or at all in AJ's case). Super rich teams should be obliged to take the old Galacticos approach and ignore defense and just score loads of goals until everyone hates each other and the coach gets sacked.
  21. I was never a serious gamer, I liked sports and racing games. The ISS games on the snes were the best footie games around and Mario Kart kart and F-Zero were ace. But Donkey Kong, Mario and sometimes Zelda are a few of the platform adventure games I did get really into for a while. I was shit at all of those though. I never completed Mario world. I never even completed Mario 3 on the Nes. Pre Nintendo I have vague memories of a spectrum of some kind with some pretty poor games.
  22. welcome back lolerpool. That little winning streak was worrying but after the mid-week draw and the loss today it's clear this squad's going to struggle for the whole season.
  23. The Snes had more really great games than any other console as far as I can remember. I definitely was a big Nintendo fan boy when I was younger. I don't really play computer games these days though so any Call of Duty talk goes right over my head.
