  1. I'm undecided on which I prefer, both fantastic imo.
  2. Series 7 definitely has its flaws (Kochanski being the obvious one) but it still has enough good bits to make it worthwhile, the first episode with JFK is awesome. 8 doesn't really have nay redeeming features imo. Bringing the crew back and having Rimmer, Lister et al locked up ruined the whole point. Series' 4 and 5 was definitely the peak of Red Dwarf.
  3. Anyone else see them in Glasgow on sunday? They were awesome as expected. Highlights were Young Liars, Satellite, Staring at the Sun, Let the Devil In, Red Dress, and of course Wolf like me.
  4. Spirit They're Gone, Spirit They've Vanished - Animal Collective ( Orignally released under Avey Tare and Panda bear)
  5. I would only want this to happen if both Grant and Naylor are involved. It went shit after they split as a writing team. Series 8 was awful.
  6. Of all things you could choose to complain about media news coverage you choose this? o_O It is a rare occurance that a story is a) significant enough to actually merit this type of coverage and b) also a positive news story.

    The Office

Imo The Office is the best british comedy show there has ever been, almost everything about it is perfect. Thankfully Gervais and Merchant resisted any pressure to continue the show on past the christmas specials, they achieved the rare feat of making a tv show that never dipped below it's greatest peak. I don't like the US version.
  8. Wonderful book, very clever and very funny.
  9. I wasn't sure what expect befroe watching this. I love Charlie Brooker but I am not generally a fan of zombie things. Overall I enjoyed it quite a lot. Some bits I didn't like but for what it was I thought it was done very well. The best new british show in quite a while (which might not have been that hard to do).
  10. What a bargain. You can't even get a pint in town for that these days. 8-)
  11. Apparantly arrests wont be made for small amounts of drugs, they will just be given a talking to or something by the police. So I don't think that we shall see lots of people arrested who have unkowingly come into some small contact with a drug. But generally I agree that it's not a great idea.
  12. After they split up recently I really regretted not having seen Be Your Own Pet live.
  13. Which of these news stories was the leading item on the 10 o'clock news last night? a) The war / humanitarian crisis in D.R. Congo b) Witnesses saying in court that they saw British police shoot Jean Charles de Menezez without giving any warning c) The upcoming election in the most powerful country in the world d) The latest update on the global financial crisis e) A TV/ radio presenter being suspended for making a prank phone call it's obvious really isn't it
  14. Good band, Very good first album, decent follow-up and the 3rd is completely forgetable really.
  15. It's disappointing to know the Daily Mail can weild such power.
  16. Just started re watching series 5. I really need to find something else worth watching.
  17. 1. Radiohead 2. Sonic Youth 3. Bjork 4. The Beach Boys 5. The Beatles 6. Talking Heads 7. Pavement 8. Tv on the Radio 9. Animal Collective 10. The White Stripes Top 4 have remained the same (although SY and Bjork swapped positions) and again the bottom entries could change all the time. The Clash appear to be the band that have dropped out of favour withme the most over the last 18 months.
  18. The Holburn bar does (or at least did) a decent one on a thursday night. I'd also recommend the one is Slains on wednesday nights.
  19. Little Kicks and Copy Haho were great. Hot Club de Paris I was disappointed by, didn't like them much, quite dull.
  20. I'd also like to know this. Should be an ace gig tonight, been looking forward to it for a while.
  21. I recently ordered these from amazon, Sam Cooke - Live at the Harlem Square Club Rage against the Machine - S/T Morrissey - You are the Quarry Robert Johnson - The Complete Recordings Scott Walker - Scott 3 Al Green - The very best of.. The Kinks - The village green preservation society
  22. David Simon was actually a journalist rahter than a novelist. He had written a couple of non-fiction books before he got involved in tv. He has spoke about how he wanted it to be paced like a novel however and the approach really works as with a little patience at the beginning each season builds up brilliantly and always reaches a great conclusion. David Simon is currently making a pilot for a new show based in New Orleans post-hurricane katrina. The actors who play Lester and Bunk will be in it. Hopefully it gets the go ahead and we might get another show of this quality.
  23. My favourite novel. It's fantastic, every page is hilarious. Another one of my faves, awesome book. The part where Pilar tells the story of Pablo's army taking revenge on the fascist supporters they captured in a town, where they get called out of the church one by one to walk through the two lines of people, is absolutely awesome writing. I've gone through a bit of a lean reading spell of late, partially due to becomming obsessed with the wire. However I did just start "The Shock Doctrine" by Naomi Klein yesterday. More grim reading
  24. Sad news. I'm happy I at least got to see Alamos one last time at Snafu on Monday night.
