  1. I gave the album a listen today, sounded pretty good. I've just recently been getting into grizzly bear too.
  2. I can't say I've ever noticed the staff at the belmont being any worse than anywhere else. I wouldn't say they are overly friendly but then I don't really expect them to be or care if they are. Also I don't think I've ever had to queue behind more than one person to get a ticket in the belmont.
  3. Yeah it's great. You're right, season 2 is the best.
  4. I got the season 5 dvd's last week, a great ending to a wonderful show. As a conclusion to the show as a whole season 5 was perfect, although in itself it probably wasn't as strong as the show at it's best (which at the moment I believe to be season 4). Any other show I can think of that was really great either got cancelled early or went on too long and suffered dramatic falls in quality levels (the simpsons being the most obvious example of this). The Wire managed to always be of the highest quality right from the very start to the end.
  5. Well, that's more proof that my memory is unreliable when it comes to old football incidents. I also just read that Fowler said that he did try to score he just happened to hit it really badly. Anyone else remember Jason McAteer's tv ads for Wash & Go, what a twat. Back on the Watford incident, it would have been nice if a Reading player had said something at the time, but it was no suprise that it didn't happen. Everyone is right, great examples of sportmanship are all too rare. It is a little understandabel though considering the pressure some players might be under to get results.
  6. The Robbie Fowler penalty incident was really funny, he slipped and fell over, the referee awarded a penalty. Fowler got up and told him he had slipped and it wasn't a pen, the ref seemed to think he knew better than Fowler himself so forced him to have a penalty. It must be noted though that Liverpool were already up by 3 goals at the time. Ad far as I remember it though, he just rolled it up to the keeper who picked it up and no one scored a rebound. I always thought the praise Di Canio got for catching the ball was a bit over the top, I don't think it was easy to score at all, he would have had to have taken it down and beat at least one defender before scoring. Don't get me wrong it was good of him to instantly decide to stop but, some people made out like he had made a diving save to stop the ball crossing the line. I'm also sure he didn't get booked for it.
  7. It's not going too well so far today. It is still early but some of the players who are down need to turn things around fairly soon, the US definitely have the momentum just now. The US crowd manages to piss me off so much
  8. Personally I don't really care if it 'sounds like a bond them' I'll just judge it as song in it's own right. Judging from that short clip, I quite like it but sounds a little like the sort of song Jack White could write in his sleep.
  9. I'll be getting tickets on Friday, can't wait to see them!
  10. The Beatles - Dear Prudence ( could have picked so many beatles tracks)
  11. ah ok, my memory isn't that great, it felt like it anyway though when the goal went in. Dow went through such an amazing period of form that season, out of nowehere he just started scoring great goals all the time. I seem to remember a great one away to St. Johnstone.
  12. That was a great game one of my favourites too. I'd been to the opening game of the season at dens the week before, Jess and Hignett both scored in a 2-0 win. After those two games I was so confident that we were going to have a great season. Think we went on a 3 month losing streak or something after that I've managed to miss a lot of the big occasions over the last few years (unfortunately I've managed to make it to disasters like qots at hampden. Most of my fondest memories are from when I was still at school, it all seemed so much more important then. Beating Rangers 1-0 in the CIS cup quarter final at pittodrie in 99/00 was incredible. The stadium was packed, but expectations were low as we were bottom of the league. We battled hard all game then Andy Dow scored a late winner and the place went crazy. Rachid Belabed then did a few keepy-ups in the centre circle after Rangers had been given a free kicks and Neil McCann went crazy. There was a game against Kilmarnock where all tickets were given away free, the original match got abandoned due to floodlight failure half way through. So everyone at the game got a free ticket for the rescheduled match and all other tickets were given away free first come first served. The dons seemed to be lifted so much by the big crowd in the game, Joe Miller scored a hat-trick and Dean Windass got a goal on his home debut!! Motherwell 5-6 Aberdeen, I wasn't at the game, but I was at my friends house listening to it on the radio, it was so bizarre. A long awaited first win of the season in one of the maddest games ever. Beating Hibs at Hampden in the scottish cup semi 2-1. Came back from a goal down to win with an awesome second half performance. Jess was immense. There was a game where we came back from 3-1 down to get a draw with two injury time goals from Alex Di Rocco which was great. Great memories. JIMMY OUT, BRING BACK SKOVDAHL
  13. Watched Pan's Labyrinth last night. Enjoyable watch but I don't feel it really justified all it's hype.
  14. Awesome Band, awesome song. A great performance, they did a great performance of Staring at the sun on Letterman which is on youtube too. RTCM is one of my favourite albums of the last five years, it's fantastic all the way through. After the first few listens I think Dear Science might be even better. Young Liars EP and Desperate Youth, Blood thirsty babes are great too, I've loved everything they've done. I'd love to see them live.
  15. High fidelity is one of the rare cases where I think the film is infinitely better than the book. The story just seems to work so much better as a film and the different setting suits it.
  16. Kirk Broadfoot scored for scotland o_O England beat croatia away from home o_Oo_O Theo Walcott scores a hat-trick o_Oo_Oo_O strange day
  17. I watched "Talk to Her" and "A Beautiful Mind" at the weekend. I enjoyed them both.
  18. it would surely only have a point if people were posting links for leacked albums, but i believe that sort of thing isn't accepted here.
  19. Fed wins in 3. Sad for Murray, but it's been a great tournament for him and he's stepped up a level. He's got many good years ahead of him and he will win Grand Slams. I'm happy for Federer that he has come back after a difficult summer to win another Grand Slam. Hopefully he should go on and take Sampras' record of 14 wins now.
  20. Dear Science, is fantastic. I really wasn't sure if they could match Return to Cookie Mountain but after a few listens I think they might have even bettered it.
  21. Like Kimy I've never really thought of it as an issue, I support Aberdeen at club level and Scotland internationally and for me it's never been a case of one being more important than the other. I've never had any problem with cheering on players from clubs I dislike.
  22. I was out ylast night and got home when he was 3-1 down in the fourth, it seemed inevitable then that Nadal was going to go on and win, but Murray performed brilliantly just as he had done in the first two sets the night before. He really stepped up a level in this match. He's never played to such a consistently high level over a whole match and he was pushed all the way by Nadal who was also playing some great tennis. I can't wait for the final, Murray has a great chance although I wonder if Federer getting a day's rest will make a difference. As much as I want Murray to win I wont be too disappointed if Federer wins, I'd be happy for him to come back so well from losing the no 1 spot, wimbledon and the olympics. I really hope he wins a few more Grand Slam events to beat Sampras; record which he really deserves. Even if Murray loses tonight I now have now doubt he will win Grand Slams in his career, I think after this tournament people will talk of a top 4 instead of the top 3 in Men's Tennis.
