  1. It's been rained off with Nadal up 3-2 in the third.
  2. Andy's playing a blinder, 2 sets up against Nadal. Hopefully he can keep it up and finish off the match. Although he's just been broken in the first game of the third:down:
  3. ah shite worst possible start to the match, i'm really not sure if there is two goals in this team
  4. Blues eye stunning Ronaldo bid - Manchester City - Football - Sport - Manchester Evening News Oh man Man City are going to provide some great comedy moments over the next year or two. I really hope they put in a an outrageous bid, just to test united's reaction.
  5. Voiceover Master Don LaFontaine Has Died at 68 | /Film Everyone reading this post has heard Don LaFontaines voice, but many of you probably dont know his name. Don LaFontaine is a voiceover legend, whose voice has graced over 5,000 movie trailers and nearly 350,000 (!) commercials. He has generally been thought of as the person who coined the phrase In a world He has helped to stoke excitement for such varied shows and films as Terminator 2, Cast Away, 24 and Arrested Development among countless others. Most recently, he has been seen in Geico commercials, in which he parodies the urgency of trailer voiceovers. (If you have a chance, head on over to Dons website to gain an appreciation of the volume and scope of this mans work. You can also check out his self-narrated lifes story by clicking here) Unfortunately, word now comes that LaFontaine has died of complications relating to pneumothorax. He was 68 years old. Those who read /Film and listen to the /Filmcast know that were huge fans of movie trailers, and few people have done as much as Don to shape our perceptions of, and excitement for, upcoming movies and TV shows. The film world has lost an amazing talent and an unbelievable voice. Mr. LaFontiane will truly be missed.
  6. I've just come across this gig recorded for italian tv in 1980 on youtube. The whole show is up and the performance is absolutely fantastic. Well worth watching all of it. Crosseyed and Painless was probably my favourite part.
  7. I think Bent will score 15-20 Goals this season. They've definitily lost some firepower but if Pavlyuchenko adapts well to the premiership and both him and bent stay fit then they should be alright for goals. Frazier Campbell should be a decent back-up too.
  8. yeah I get what you're saying, but if the choice was Robinho or no one as it seemed to be by yesterday then I would have liked Robinho. I think he would have added an extra goal threat even if he is not an out and out striker. I really hope that when Drogba comes back he's not in a strop about not getting the move he wanted. We need him in top form because as you say I don't think Anelka can be relied upon to get too many goals.
  9. o_O what a strange day yesterday was. Man City have suddenly turned into a super-power of the premiership. It will be interesting to see what they do in January. The whole Berbatov saga is still a bit confusing, from all the reports it looks like he was having a medical with united when spurs had only given him permission to go to city. I would have loved it if city had got Berbatov, bit miffed they got Robinho, Chelsea could really have done with him. Pleasantly suprised with the Aluko news for the dons.
  10. So it's believed that Berbatov is currently discussing terms with Manchester.....CITY o_O This could be the weirdest/ best/ most hilarious transfer in a long time. The whole summer has been full of nothing but hype which became tedious months ago, but if this deal comes off it will have been worth it. I'd love to see Fergie's reaction. Saying that he'll probably still end up signing for utd at 2359hrs
  11. I'd like to live somewhere in South America for a while, Argentina or Venezuala probably. I've stayed in Ghana and Nepal for short periods (5 months and 3 months) and would happily go back and live in both countries for longer periods. Out of places in Europe I've been to Germany is the country that would most appeal to me to live there. If I was to move to another British city, Edinburgh would be my first choice.
  12. It's definitely worth sticking with it, one of my favourite novels. It was very slow going for me at the beginning too. It took me ages to get my head around all the long russian names. Once I really got into it I rattled through it, I read the second half in the fraction of the time I spent on the first half of the novel.
  13. people who say things like this are hilarious
  14. I had just written a really long response trying to say why this wont happen, but then I realised I was just rambling and I had gone completely off track. What I will say though is that the situation with Chelsea and Gretna are completely incomparable. Kaka wont sign for Chelsea. SWP was never good enough for a champions league team.
  15. I'm all for a British team (for the olympics only). I'm quite annoyed with the SFA's staunch refusal to take part in it or even listen to the idea of it. It would something different and make the olympic football tournament more interesting. Despite football being my favourite sport by far I probably watched about 3 seconds worht of coverage from the football in Beijing. After the assurances from fifa and the fact that the olympics is only an under 23 (plus a couple of seniors) tournament anyway I don't really see any threat to the survival of the current system. If rugby can have their Lions tours every few years and keep the seperate teams for the home nations I don't see why the football associations can't put together a British under 23 team for a couple of weeks.
  16. Yeah Omar is fantastic, the part in series 2 where he is in court as a witness is brilliant. Omar, Bubbs & Stringer are probably my top 3 characters. Lester, Bunk, McNulty and Prez I really like too. Virtually all the characters are fantastic though.
  17. I would love to go to that, but as it is before the release of Season 5 on DVD I will probably be too fearful of spoilers to go. I've already heard one big spoiler and I'm desperate to avoid any more. I'm re-watching the first 4 series at the moment, amazingly this show is even better on the second viewing.
  18. I thought The Dice Man was great when I first read it a few years ago. I was wrong.
  19. Micaheal Johnson's record up until Bolt's emergence looked as if it would stand forever, it was so far ahead of what anyone else could achieve. Bolt was running flat out in the final to beat the record unlike in 100m where he jogged the final 10 metres and still broke the previous record, which was already his. The last time the 100m record was broken at an Olympics was in Atlanta in 1996. To win both events in world record times is unbelievable.
  20. Another great day for team GB in Beijing Chris Hoy is just phenomenal. For his specialist event to be removed from the olympics and then to adapt and win gold in 3 other different events is amazing. The silver in the high jump was a nice suprise. 16 Golds now, could be a couple more to come at least. The girl in the bmx competition (who's name I've forgotten) and Philips Idowu in the triple jump are both big favourites. Hopefully we could get gold from at least one of the three boxers left in the competition. THey've set a very high standard to beat in 2012
  21. Series 4 is fantastic, but also quite depressing at times. o_O that video's bizarre! I was suprised to hear that the guy who plays Stringer is from brixton, he gets his accent perfect. Dominic West who plays McNulty has such an annoying accent in real life that he should just speak as McNulty all the time. I think a lot of people who appear in the show in more minor roles are local baltimore people. The man who plays the deacon in series 3 and 4 is a man called Melvin Williams who is known as 'the man who introduced heroin to Baltimore' and pretty much ruled the city's west side from the sixties through to the eighties. He was arrested by co-creator Ed Burns and spent 26 years in prison. And Snoop went to prison when she was 14 for shooting and killing someone (in self defence). Up until then her life was apparently just like the young kids on the corners shown in the wire.
  22. ah, I thought it might be, but I couldn't be bothered searching back. Anyway, it's funny enough to merit it's own thread!
  23. YouTube - Steve McClaren - What's up with the accent? Interview Funniest thing I've seen in a long time. What was he thinking?
  24. I think season 2 is my favourite. I liked 3 almost as much, it is possibly a little weaker in some aspects than 1 and 2 but it is also more exciting at times and the concluding episodes are awesome. The way it wraps up some story arcs which began in season 1 and also introduces the characters and stories which it will pick up with in season 4 is great.
