  1. The Elliphant album has been my most played thing over the last week or so. It's fantastic.
  2. The new cut copy album has been getting a lot of play. I think it might be my favourite of theirs.
  3. Right at this moment Jake is watching a youtube video trying to learn how to put up a wall mount.
  4. I would never have said legos ever. At any age.
  5. I did not know THAT! I might have to investigate. 01/02 was still in my obsessive period. 97/98 really was special though. I played so many games of that.
  6. Wish that video had the Jim Leighton triple penalty save.
  7. I was obsessed in the past (when it was still champ man). But stopped playing it years ago and when I did try to get back into it one time it just didn't grab me. I think the amount of detail and time required to succeed in the newer games is a bit off putting. Like you say it did really take up huge chunks of my like at a time. There were times I went to bed and waited for my girlfriend to go to sleep before getting up and playing through the night.
  8. Home debut. His first game was away at Dens the week before which was probably one of the first away matches I ever went to. We won that 2-0 with goals from both Jess and Hignett and we really did look good. Dens was a shit hole. Also the atmosphere at that Celtic match was one of the best I ever experienced at Pittodrie.
  9. I remember when in 98 I thought the Hignett and Jess duo would take us to league glory. That lasted 2 games into the season
  10. And biggest pet hate, international weekends. Especially since they put the games on Fridays. I could be watching football right now instead of posting this shite if it was a normal weekend of footy.
  11. People using this forum to talk about musical instrument, equipment and gigs. What forum do they think this is? They should be talking about football, annoying people on facebook and complaining about things that don't really matter.
  12. Try and do better with this one. 1. I was born in England in 1970 2. I began my career with Crew Alexandra 3. I made over 100 appearances for the club before signing with Middlesbrough in 1992 and stayed until 1998. 4. In 1995 I scored the club's first goal at the Riverside stadium in a 2-0 win against Chelsea. 5. In 1998 I signed for Aberdeen but returned to England only a few months later to play for Barnsley. 6. In 2002 I won the league cup with Blackburn, the only medal of my career. 7. The final years of my career were spent at various clubs including Leicester, Darlington and Hartlepool before retiring in 2007. Answer Craig Hignett
  13. Does anyone listen to the football ramble? Anyway here's a teaser for you in the form of Pete's going for gold type game. Try and guess the player with as few as clues as you can. 1. I was born in Nigeria in 1978 and named after a 13th century pope. 2. In 1994 I signed for Anderlecht and was soon breaking records. 3. Aged 16 years and 86 days I became the youngest player ever sent off in a Champions League match. 4. I was signed by Chelsea in 1997 and made over 100 league appearances for the club. 5. In my final season Chelsea won the league but I didn't play enough matches to get a winners medal. 6. I then spent a few largely unsuccesful seasons at Newcastle before signing for LA Galaxy who I never played a competitive match for. 7. In 2011 I was declared bankrupt. The answer Celestine Babayaro
  14. Can someone please come and get really mad at my tournament ranking so we can have a big long discussion about it. I really have nothing else to do right now. Mad storms going on outside so I am not leaving my flat.
  15. 96 wasn't that great of tournament really but I can obviously see why England fans (especially those who are old enough to remember it but not world cup 90) have fond memories of it. I enjoyed it too with Scotland being there but overall the quality wasn't the best. I'd rank the last 20 years of major tournaments as 2000>1998=2006>2008>1996>2012>2010>2002>2004 The first 3 are quite hard to order for me and I could spend ages thinking about it if I really wanted to. Giving the edge to 2000 because I think it probably did have the highest standard of football even though the other two maybe have stronger personal memories attached to them.
  16. The discussion was about plurals, not possessives. These days any QI is too much. I wish YoungA had the same standards.
  17. How good was the 1998 world cup? So good Robbie Earl was playing in it.
  18. 98 was definitely in my peak period of football obsession. It was a great time for football too, there were loads of top class players around and attacking play was generally favoured. Just compare World Cup 98 and Euro 2000 to the '02 and '04 tournaments which were much more negative and less entertaining. Plus everyone knows that 97/98 is the best championship manager game there ever was.
  19. I've not really read much from him (I tend to stick to Sid when it comes to English language reportin on Spain) so don't have an opinion on him. This is a good piece worth reading though.
  20. Book extract which explains some of the way Spain's national youth teams work http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/nov/15/spain-the-inside-story-of-la-rojas-historic-treble-book-extract Pretty interesting and it definitely seems to be working.
  21. This isn't as flippant as the news normally shared in this thread but it certainly is ridiculous. http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/health-news/designer-vaginas-unnecessary-harmful-and-not-to-be-offered-to-girls-under-age-of-18-say-experts-8940386.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter Between 2008 and 2012, 266 labial reductions were performed on girls under 14 in the NHS, according to official statistics.
  22. I love that you can tell she thinks she's writing these little anecdotes in some brilliant manner worthy of publishing when in fact she just sounds like a complete idiot.
  23. If you want you could make your assumption correct by the simple action of buying me a return flight to Glasgow for the weekend of the show.
