  1. Spooky the members of Cancer should be shitting themselves...
  2. To be fair, I came pretty close to mutilating the odd fully-developed foetus, the last time I listened to Butchered At Birth, by Cannibal Corpse.
  3. That's a tad harsh on the likes of Hog' date=' and even Doc - it's not spike and ascension that have bottled it at all.... only scroge. That's the worst excuse I 've heard since you said originally that this gig wouldn't happen because your leg muscles couldn't handle playing what would be effectively 2 short sets with a long break in between. Well it certainly wouldn't be anyone from our camp taking it too seriously. Camp being the operative word, ooh mithter
  4. And what situation do you think MMW have had for a couple of years!!
  5. Focus will set you back quite a bit... think you can only get it on import. i nearly bought it last time I went to london but it was 20! Atheist as well... there's a band to check out!
  6. well hog, you know we'd be up for it. You know as well as I do that it's all just banter on here... even if it does get taken a little far sometimes I'm sure if it did happen most people from all bands would sit in the corner embarrassed cos they'd slagged off people on here, haha I think it would be fun to have MMW, Spike, Ascension and another band on the same bill... Spike or Ascension could go on first, then another band (say radio lucifer for example), then MMW, and then either Spike or Ascension could close the night (that way Scorge's legs could recover). But I guess if some members of Spike are far too scared and not up to the task of the idea then it'll never happen... imagine the amount of people willing to see Grind vs Power metal vs emo (wink wink) vs rock and roll in all one night!
  7. I know but it still only has 24 frets up to the bottom cut-away... so reaching anything past there would be impossible!
  8. Oh... and Hog - that guy is called Pin and he plays in SikTh. And he does indeed look like you! (although most people with minus hair look like you)
  9. ? they're only 24 fret guitars! Although I guess if you strung an 8 string 24 fret guitar E A D G B E A D then you could technically get an extra octave...
  10. This man is absolutely correct' date=' as per usual that statement is so comedic that I'm not sure if Scorge is being serious. But say someone who was definitely being serious said this, I would have said: See this is exactly the sort of people I was on about when referring to 'elitist death metallers'. I mean if someone was at least actually into carcass in 1988 and stuck around for heartwork to be released then I can almost understand it. However, the fact remains that although groundbreaking, there is nothing enjoyable about reek of putrecfaction except the carcass logo and the t-shirts they brought out in that era. Heartwork however is full of incredibly well crafted death metal songs that have an awesome melodic feel due to the great solos and harmonies. Anyone who listens to both Iron maiden AND death metal - and says that 'Reek...' is better than 'Heartwork' is either failing heavily in trying to be cool, or just plain lying. (not referring directly to you here Scorge) I am usually very diplomatic when it comes to music, as I realise how subjective it is... however I honestly cannot understand AT ALL how anyone can actually like 'Reek...' more than 'Heartwork...' snigger. *now three up hahahaha - you've exited the thread which means you can't come back! This is like a game.
  11. indeed slayer do use marshall's hence why they have a naturally mid-range guitar tone
  12. haha, yeah I actually agree - sound of perseverance is awesome! But if I had have said that my analysis wouldn't have been as good...
  13. I voted 'none of the above' because I wanted to be a spoil sport. However, I would have voted for stayover for a number of reasons... they deserve to win it.
  14. what a thoroughly excellent review! Ignoring the actual content (as I play in one of the bands so can't really comment on your opinions), it is objectively written with subjectivity in mind - as well as being critical in a positive way. Excellent stuff, there should be more people writing reviews like this - thank you! check me, I'm reviewing a review - haha. 9/10 Playing in black atom myself - I didn't think it was a particularly good set for us, although got a lot better towards the end. Enjoyed the night though - always a pleasure to play with otehr good bands as well
  15. If you are playing in drop D and in the key of D minor: e---8--- B---6--- G---9--- D--(7)-- (optional) A------- D------- and the same shape e---13--- B---11--- G---14--- D--(12)-- (optional) A--------- D--------- Sound dischordant again due to the half tone intervals between some of the notes, but nicely so if used correctly with other chords
  16. check out blackmachine guitars... they do the same: www.blackmachine.com
  17. A lot of sound that comes from a record is often there as a result of the engineer/producers input rather than amps used etc etc. For example, most album by Scott Burns sound the same - as do Colin Richardson's and Andy Sneap's... but then again all three of them usually work with similar sounding bands. I've never been a huge fan of slayers guitar tone particularly (it's not bad like, but not something I'd aspire to), but if you want to get it - do NOT scoop the mids on your amp. Slayer are well known to have pretty high mid settings on their amps. Why can't you try it out after the shop shuts?
  18. It'll probably be a bit shit. Did you ever hear any black star? (his post carcass band) I didn't, but Carcass to me were all about the Ammott/Steer combination anyway Not that reek of putrefaction shite, that although ground breaking stuff, is uncomfortable listening.
