  1. jamesy for fucks sake! you post on here as me more than you did as you!
  2. One Cd. Holy shit! And I didn't even say that I actually listen to it. Well let me see. I also drink beer from time to time but does that make me an alcoholic? And tell me Doc, do you HONESTLY own ANY albums at all other than power metal CDs... I bet you own the oasis records you indie kid! Don't tell me every bit of music you own is played by a band named after a lord of the rings chracter or a type of battle armour etc. So anyway, yes back on topic. If I'm free I'll probably be at the gig. I actually listen to a surprising amount of metal in between writing poetry and trying on cardigans. Spoonie buddy, i got dumped more than once and I don't own and "bages"... (ironically I did listen to the FFAF CD the other day for the first time since it's month of release and there's some good songs there. Also a few pish ones but nevermind. the last song they wrote "10 scene points for the winner" is actually probably infinitely more metal than half the stuff you listen to anyway) And anyway, FFAF are about as emo as dragonforce are battle metal if we're getting into the ins and outs of sub-genres.
  3. I'm only here for the promo chap! Changed your jam yet?
  4. Come down to Glasgow on Wednesday, it'll be less than a tenner, bus leaving Schoolhill at half 4/5, we kinda need to impress... Jamesy (not Dan)
  5. Yo, Interest is pretty good for a bus so far, and we've been told if we impress then we get to play with a bigger American band in Glasgow in a few months, so it's imperative we rally the troops, and although I know it's hella short notice, I'm taking that as an opportunity to impress greatly, as the promoter isn't really expecting us to pull much people at all. The price for bus and entry to the gig will be 10 maximum, hopefully a few quid cheaper, and it'd leave Schoolhill at half 4 or 5, returning straight after the gig. Anyone fancy it, I reckon it'll be a right laugh, and good for Aberdeen too. Jamesy (yes, I know, I deleted my account)
  6. i would also like to thank everyone who voted for us and all the atom fans. Whether atom are or aren't the best band in aberdeen will be argued by many - the fact that we have the best fans cannot be denied! Something proven by the result of the fudge awards. Hurrah!
  7. I remember being onstage for all the best awards and also all the worst awards (which in my opinion were also the best awards) What an ace night! Thank you to all the folks who voted for ATOM and MMW.
  8. Mendeed My Mind's Weapon Uk Deathcharge Starfall + Others... Wednesday 16th March (This Wednesday...), Glasgow Cathouse.. Mendeed have had Videos all over TV and have been will be going out on tour with Cradle of Filth at COF's request next month. www.mendeed.co.uk My Mind's Weapon have supported the likes of The Bled, Alexisonfire, Cult of Luna, Bleeding Through, Johnny Truant, Aconite Thrill and Hiding With Girls in the last 6 months, with a pending late summer tour with 2 undisclosed named acts, a recent release and recent dates on the South Coast of England. Starfall have toured all around Europe and the UK in the last year, they have just returned from the Guildford Music Festival, playing directly under headliners Million Dead. 4 advance, 5 on the door. If interest is so, then we'd love to run a bus. MMw
  9. what a thoroughly interesting read. however i think the thread, "how did you lose your bumginity" would be infinitely funnier.
  10. indeed... i would be very interested in seeing this! In fact i would buy it instantly.
  11. Exactly! Anyone who knows me is aware that I LOVE guitar solos and guitar harmonies... but when EVERYTHING is harmonised and you play a million solos it takes away the specialness of those two things. A great guitar harmony here and there is fantastic, but if it is on EVERY SINGLE lead melody then you totally know what to expect and it becomes obvious... Thats just my opinon though. Back to REFLUX though... I gave in and bought their album and it is indeed good. The songs are growers and their Meshuggah influence is quite apparent in a number of places!
  12. without doubt Paradise Lost have changed the most probably more than any band in the world. Compare Lost Paradise to either one second or host and it is IMPOSSIBLE to see any similarity between the two. I wouldn't have said entombed have changed that much... still playing the rock and roll death metal approach which they perfected on Wolverine Blues - hard to believe that album is 12 years old now! Sepultura have changed a fair bit, but they are still brutal and heavy and fast like when they started out, albeit in a totally different way. Comparing Megadeth's 'Killing is My Business' and 'Risk' shows a change in a bands style, although again you can still tell it's the same band.
  13. to back up my original statement... i got into Paradise Lost around the Icon period, that was the first album I bought and I loved it, then I got draconian times. But imagine my surprise the day I bought Lost paradise and Gothic expecting some metallica-esque doomy gothic metal, and instead it is poorly-produced british death metal that sounded nothing like the PL I knew! Anyway, Gothic has a few songs like the title track, shattered and eternal. In fact I always liked Falling Forever as well although Nick Holmes said it was the most embarassing song they've done! Also the style of death metal they played wasn't the stuff I was a fan of, bearing in mind I liked thrash-inspired stuff like Death, mid-period Sepultura and even Cannibal Corpse... which all had a bit of pace to it. Oh, and Shades of god - I used to like this album, some good songs but the production is awful (especially the bass) and to me it is only average because it doesn't compare to the following two albums. Just my opinion though!
  14. Is fucking amazing! "Stabbing the Drama" came out a week a go (although thanks to a certain Mr Scott Bowden I have owned the promo for a month) The chorus' are all huge, some massive riffs and the production is huge! the band are so tight they practically sound mechanical in places. Their last four albums have all been awesome and I really couldn't chose a favourite. Anyway, well worth a purchase for anyone who likes heavy music with a sense of melody.
