  1. I'm not sure what I think of them. My brother thinks they're ace but I've heard four of their tracks and it didn't totally do it for me... they might be growers though! the guitarist is fucking ace however... (although I wish they had two - I much prefer twin guitar bands)
  2. that's Little FEAT Graeme... They were ace, fat man in the bathtub and all that! My dad has all their all their records so I guess I grew up on them, along with led zep, queen and clapton etc. Other than the obvious love for Michael Jackson when I was around 5 (now it's the other way round) - the most influential 2 albums for me are: GUNS 'N' ROSES - Use Your Illusion II IRON MAIDEN - Killers but also the following played a big part of my early musical appreciation: BON JOVI - Slippery When Wet BLACK SABBATH - Headless Cross NIRVANA - Incesticide METALLICA - Kill 'Em All PANTERA - Far Beyond Driven
  3. Soilwork - Stabbing the drama Meshuggah - Chaosphere Megadeth - Countdown To Extinction
  4. well in terms of soloing - i have the upper hand, but he can do a load of jazz/obscure chords and finger picking that is way past my ability. He also had guitar lessons for a year or so which really helped him. he started on the guitar about half a year after me, although he is 2 and a half years younger.
  5. No offence taken! And for that matter I never take offence when someone says my band isn't as good as another band because (I say this a lot) MUSIC IS SUBJECTIVE. Not a lot of people seem to understand that.
  6. We're not competetive like that... I'm not inspired by trying to be better than people -I do what I enjoy and to the best of my ability. And anyway you really can't compare the two bands as being Mike Vs Dan for many reasons. For instance my brother doesn't write any of the proceed material (the other guitarist - Dan Lancaster is the mastermind behind the band) because my brother joined the band years after they formed. He also has another band that he writes all the stuff for... they should be gigging soon. I might add that age-wise (excluding myself and ben) proceed are the same age as the rest of mmw. Also, like i said before, I don't know what they're like live and I'd say playing live is a stronger point of mmw... Finally if I was really worried that people thought my younger bro's band was better than mine then I wouldn't have posted anything up here. I personally think they're awsome and thought I'd just give them a bit of respect here.
  7. I'd agree with you to be honest. Although I've not seen them live, on record Proceed are amazing. However, My Mind's Weapon have been a band for just over a year, and Proceed have been a band for about 4 years. Their album alone took over a year to record whereas we have infinitely less time as we record in a studio rather than at home.
  8. Except when it's you' date=' and you're in the middle of the road. They are based in Hertfordshire (an hour North of London)
  9. In fact i am positive. Maybe not in Aberdeen and maybe not this year, but they are still playing.
  10. Although your use of the english language is remarkably similar to that of George W. Bush, I have a feeling that you will not be disappointed to hear that there is a good chance that SikTh might still be playing...
  11. Touche salesman. Middle of the road metal band? Which one - My Mind's Weapon or Black Atom? I've heard both described as far worse so thank you for the compliment.
  12. didn't they have that 4 horsemen metallica tribute thing going on?
  13. probably when the trees are dead dried out. Man, i can't wait (that long) for something wild!
  14. I'm guessing that was a chino moreno influence? you like crap music so your opinion doesn't count.
  15. There's nothing wrong with being a ned. here's me playing a gig dressed as a ned. I look so cool.
  16. yeah, although he has a Les Paul that he uses most of the time.
  17. I think they are quality, and if you like Incubus 'science' era, the first lost prophets record and thrice/FFAF style punky emo metal (or whatever) then you should check them out. If you hate the thought of that check em out anyway cos they do what they do WELL. The track that plays first is called mirror blind but I'd recommend trying 'Dinas Pomyll' or 'Logic of resequence' first. http://www.myspace.com/proceed
  18. Maxi, you should dig out that recording that Amnesia did at Toms about 4 or so years ago. "I see you...standing behind the shade" great times!
  19. Don't know if anyone remembered but I wrote two power metal songs ages ago: Master Of Storms The wind in my hair and the shield on my back, Together we stand as we wait for attack. Our swords in our hands as we look to the sky, The banshees and warlocks shall face us and die! The clarion sounds let the battle begin, Our magical dragons will ensure that we'll win. The crashing of thunder is heard through the land, I'm a master of metal and this is my band! Deafening, Frightening. My magic is stronger than lightning! CHORUS: Master of Storms - My magic defeated your swords and your steel Master of storms - My power reheated your microwave meal We ride across plains slaying all in our way, Our armour is spandex and metal we'll stay. We paint the hills red from the blood we have spilled, The wizards are vanquished and demons are killed. Victorious in battles from the snow to the sand, Our legend will reign and be told through the land. My sword has the strength of a legion of kings, I'm a master of metal and my axe has six strings! Deafening, Frightening. My magic is stronger than lightning! CHORUS: Master of Storms - My magic defeated your swords and your steel Master of storms - My power reheated your microwave meal Where Dragons Fly And Heroes Die (Swords In The Wind) The Legions of warriors They storm through the land, As dragons breathe fire To kill on command. Through forests and mountains With swords raised to sky, The heroes have come here To fight 'til they die! CHORUS: Swords in the wind! The dragon breathes fire Swords in the wind! To kill with desire Swords in the wind! The dragon flies higher Swords In the wind! These lyrics are dire A battleground plagued With the ice, wind and snow, As steel strikes steel Hear cries from below. I stand with my blade I'm defiant in battle. My magic destroyed Every band from Seattle. CHORUS: Swords in the wind! The dragon breathes fire Swords in the wind! To kill with desire Swords in the wind! The dragon flies higher Swords In the wind! These lyrics are dire
  20. Although you said that MMW are emo and that all emo is shit... which is close enough... I was taking the piss! Scorge does that all the time, so I'm sure it was within my rights to... Anyways, I don't really like arguing with people so I suggest we let bygones (not dragons) be bygones and all sing a happy song instead
