  1. i said one of the best bands in britain - not the best.

muse kicked all arse at the brits - i think it was out of trying to prove a point after losing the best british rock award.....!

im a huge muse fan, and i'd kill to go see them live as i rate them as being probably THE best new-ish band in britain. matt bellamy is a god, great singer, great guitarist - great in general. powerful live act (i have the hullaballoo dvd), seriously talented band.

i also went to see radiohead last december, and they blew me away - theyr probably the best live band musically in britain. their music takes on a new lease of life live - its amazing. thom's a kickass singer.

the darkness were better on friday than any performance by them on TV i've ever seen. they kicked serious ass, i think they're getting into a stride now, and just at the stage when they needed to.

but really, when you think about it - bands like Snow Patrol (who are also faves of mine) sometimes lack a cutting edge live (even on the DVD sometimes)- but people dont give them a hard time over it. why the darkness? what have they done?

  2. last night was a brilliant concert.

justin hawkins had the crowd in the palm of his hand, unbelievable. the floating tiger-solo was excellent aswell.

the new song with the guitar-keyboard (english country garden) was fucking brilliant! as were the rest of the new tracks they aired - the one they opened with (Greed) was ace aswell.

they certainly don't lack talent by any means. Justin and Dan are two fucking amazing guitarists who work brilliantly well with and off of each other, and the rhythm section in frankie and ed were so powerful it hurt. they're probably one of the best bands in britain just now, imho.

do me bad things kicked ass! very different. the main lead singer had more than a touch of freddie mercury about him, but thats no bad thing - he was a kickass frontman. the 4 backing vocalists made for some interesting vocal work!

ash were also fucking excellent - get any ash album except Nu-Clear Sounds. very tight and experienced band - set the crowd up brilliantly for the darkness.

personally i think its a fucking shame that people will continue to give the darkness shit - i hope their next album fucking blows absolutely everything away and they take their rightful place in rock history.

  4. hey y'all....

did anyone go to see hells bells a few weeks back? if you did, we were the support act....and here's a live mp3 of our opening track of the night. it was a kickass gig, and the response we got from the crowd was absolutely breathtaking.

    any feedback would be appreciated.

    Give Up

    Thanks a lot.

    hells bells kicked ass aswell.

  5. recently i took delivery of a brand new Fender Highway 1 J-Bass....(its replacing the flying v, i wanted something with a decent tone). it sounds incredible through my amp (Marshall VBA halfstack), and i'm very very happy with it. playability is amazing, standard J-bass set up, and it looks fucking gorgeous too. heavy neck? nah. perfect. the flying v was top heavy, fender is perfectly weighted. personal preference, i love the headstock.

talking about session basses, i personally don't see the need for 24 frets on a bass but if you're doing session work its maybe something to consider - probably the best idea to have as diverse a bass (or collection of basses) as possible to cover as much as possible.

  6. Guitars

    Mexican Fender Telecaster

    Epiphone Flying V

Ibanez G10 (ancient piece of total shit, has been gutted and is in the process of being made good)

    Basses

    Fender Highway 1 J-Bass

    Epiphone Flying V

    B.C Rich NJ Series Warlock

Vintage Active Musicman copy (this thing's so bad, its funny....i must change the battery in the active circuit thing some day)
