  1. The name Resurrection makes a bit more sense now though, I guess! xx
  2. What happened to that open Ab-Mus playlist? Might be worth trying to resurrect it? xx
  3. #29 New Found Glory - Resurrection I had expected this to be pish and for my "review" I could just say "...they should've stayed dead." but it's actually a pretty solid record. It's more punk rock than pop-punk, more into the A Day to Remember kind of vein, some chuggy guitars and beatdowns 'n' shit. I enjoyed it. Jordan's voice is also a little less nasal and whiny in this record too. They've been re-inventing themselves over the past few records going by the snippets I've heard - haven't listened to any in full since Catalyst and there's been about a half dozen records since then, so this could just be more of the same. I don't know. But I liked it. 4/5 xx
  4. hashtagtwentyeight Strike Anywhere - Change is a Sound Punk record. Great punk record. Not a huge fan of the production, the guitars should be higher in the mix and a little snarlier in my opinion, but still an amazing record. 4/5 xx
  5. hastag23 The Peacocks - In Without Knockin' Psychobilly, but fairly pish. Bad songs and sub-par production. 2/5 hashtag24 The Tallest Man On Earth - Shallow Grave Beautiful, melancholy stuff. It manages to avoid both being obnoxious and being background music. Good. 4/5 #25 Mike Lawrence - Sadamantium Comedy. It made me LOL. 4/5 #26 William Fitzsimmons - Lions More beautiful, melancholy stuff. This one is a little too boring for my tastes. 3/5 #27 Jay Leonhard - The Bass Lesson Music/comedy/poetry/spoken word stuff by a dude playing a double bass. It was weird, and nothing really happened, but I really enjoyed it. 4/5 xx
  6. Glad to hear it! This is my favourite song/record of his. If only for the line: "When victory comes at too heavy a price, there's honour in choosing defeat. Like the boy who was given the keys to the world, but decided to sleep in the street." xx EDIT: Also, this.
  7. Was this an expression of interest in drum doody? Or just curiosity? That's completely fine, no experience necessary - I'm planning on this being a fairly laid back affair where we can just kinda find our feet as we go. xx
  8. First, Fat Mike is, indeed, king. Wolves in Wolves' Clothing is a fucking awesome record. Self-Entitled is a bit hit-and-miss lyrically but overall I think Mike's lyrics are fucking awesome. I will kick-fuck anyone who disagrees. Because I'm a fucking hardcase, innit? Anyway, I need to listen to/review 11 new records to keep up. Here goes. #6teen The Wonder Years - The Greatest Generation. Pop-punk/power-pop songs about summer, and girls, and summer girls, and nostalgia. Very enjoyable record with good production and well-put-together songs, but not one I'll be clambering back to listen to again and again. Probably one of those records that will really stick with you if you hear it in your teens during a summer when you're into a girl, otherwise it's just a little bit more of the same. 3/5 #7teen Black on Black - A Tribute to Black Flag I, like Joe, love tribute records. Black Flag songs but with better production, more clarity and louder. Fuck yeah. 5/5 #8teen David Ford - Charge I fucking love David Ford. I fucking love this record. Slightly more pop-oriented Tom Waits-esque piano balladry. Amazing lyrics, as with all his stuff. Great. 5/5 #1nine David Ford - Tennessee See above. 5/5 #20 Good Lovelies - Good Lovelies Swingy, jazzy, poppy awesomeness. Lovely harmonies, foot-tapping goodness. Love this shit. 5/5 #twitty-wan Childish Gambino - Camp Surprised by how much I like this. Some really naff choruses that I just don't dig on, but it's mostly really, really good! 4/5 #22 Horrorpops - Bring it On! Psychobilly. I love psychobilly. Good record. 4/5 23-27 coming tomorrow.
  9. Beautiful. I'm off to Norway for a couple of weeks but will keep trying to recruit! xx
  10. Shergold out the door. Rest still on hold. xx
  11. Shergold, jazz neck, mic and tuner all sold pending.
  12. No weddings but I do a nice sideline in pornography. And it would be but I don't have access to an amp to test right now! Xx
  13. Tromboner in the bag. Possible clarinet too. Any other interest? Drums and a cornet and we should have just about enough to get something moving! Xx
  14. Your mum's muff uses a 3.5mm Jack. Xx
  15. I've got a fretless that I'd be using at first, still in the process of getting my hands on an upright that won't bankrupt me! Xx
  16. I've fancied having a wee play about in this genre for a while. Looking for horns, clarinet, banjo, drums, whatever would fit really. No hard and fast rules, just some bippidy boppidy jams and fun times with a view to playing some cabaret shows and the like. I play bass. Xx
  17. #Fourteen Moderat - Moderat Minimalist techno. Some interesting dynamics but still flows nicely between songs. Great one to help a slow day in the office drift by. Background music, but good background music. 3/5 #Fifteen Dillinger Escape Plan - Ire Works Heavy, loud, fast, riffy, great. 5/5 xx
