The Ghost Of Fudge
when fudge started putting on shows at the moorings, the tagline was "release your kraken". which is a referance to a Clutch song. then it occured to me what a wonderfully fudge-esque pun on 'cracking' i was missing. thus: kraken dj duo.and why not, after all? The Ghost Of Fudge
next sat at the moorings!"LRA are enjoying a good spell at the moment. We received a glowing review from glasswerk glasgow for the King Tuts gig with The Hazey Janes last month:Another Friday night at King Tuts, another promising line up of fresh Scottish talent, this time supporting Australian band Howling Bells. First up were Glasgow band Le Reno Amps, a refreshing and lively blend of country-fied (thats a word!) Alternative/Indie music. Opening song 1969; with Rock n Roll riffs borrowing from the Kinks hit All Day & All Of The Night; provided a bouncy start to their 10 track set. Its quickly apparent that Le Reno Amps offer something a little different from the norm and its bloody good too! Sometimes electric, sometimes acoustic, but always involving very strong vocal harmonies. Lyrical content plays a big part in Al Nero and Scott Maples musical partnership too, with tongue in cheek lines such as Why did god make you so beautiful, Whyd he make me so ugly? and Am on a train I got ma destination, No holdin back, Dont need no lubrication! demonstrating their ability not to take themselves too seriously. A heavily exaggerated mock Texan drawl sometimes makes an appearance too and some songs owe more than a little inspiration from the late great Johnny Cash which adds to the entertainment value of a set that never involves a dull moment. Further entertainment was provided by a tall dude in the crowd dancing like a maniac, like no one else was watching, intoxicated by the music this dynamic duo produced. Scott raised more than a few laughs too, as he introduced two extra band members, joking, There are two more of us tonight yeah, me and Al dont normally play! Hilarity aside, every song stood out in its own right, 2nd Look was instantly recognisable from their MySpace page, while New song How You Did Me Wrong received a very warm response from the crowd considering this was the first time it had never been played. And Loosen Up (for the Hazey Janes) provided a beefier rock offering from their usual arsenal. A diverse range of musical styles was present in their music ranging from country-rock, indie, alt-country, even the odd song with the swinging rhythm of an old American oompa band! Finally their set came to a close with the pop-punk explosion that is Wound Up with frantic drumming and a very cool acoustic break proving further the diversity of Le Reno Amps a surprise round every corner! We were also happy to hear LRA getting played by Whispering Bob Harris on Radio 2 the other week. The award winning DJ played Last Orders from the LP, a stroke of genius segueing it straight into Greenday!LRA have also been confirmed to play the Woodward Main Stage at this years Wickerman Festval on Friday 21st July. We are due on stage at 1:45pm and are looking forward to it. Other acts confirmed for the Friday are Marky Ramone, The Blockheads, New Model Army and Wilko Johnson to name but a few! Should be a good one anyway, hopefully the sun will come out."www.lerenoamps.comhttp://www.myspace.com/lerenoamps

The Ghost Of Fudge
BLITZHONEY play the moorings on sat (11th march)here's what they say about themselves:"If Jesus, William Wallace, Muhammad Ali and Ghandi ever put aside their musical differences and formed a band, they'd sound not unlike this debonair art-rock-pop outfit from Glasgow... Influences? The Clash, The Cure, Orange Juice, David Bowie, Lou Reed, Bob Dylan/The Band, The Stanglers, New Order, Josef K, Jesus and Mary Chain, Gang of Four, Talking Heads, The Waterboys, Roxy Music, Neil Young, Television, Echo and the Bunnymen, Blue Nile, Primal Scream.Sounds like? ...Dancing disco-bones shattering like green glass, over and over again, to the beat of hearts breaking and unbreaking."wow! sounds great, eh? so we'll see you on saturday! blitzhoney onstage about 10/10.30ish.... The Ghost Of Fudge
quality. i think we have a door person. nice one.NOW! let's see how the fab FIVE FINGER DISCOUNT like to portray themselves...... they, of course, open the show on saturday night, at around 9pm...FIVE FINGER DISCOUNT"we've always been the underdogs. you know that band that everyone thinks are gonna be shit because they don't comply with 'scene politics'? yep, thats us. now, however, we are slowly but surely turning the tables. we are steadily gaining good press and an ever growing fan base is making people reassess their opinion of us.don't get me wrong, we're not breaking any musical boundaries. we are simply playing good, honest pop music and it seems to be appealing to an ever growing number of people. maybe the cardboard animals that we play with onstage are providing the entertainment? we make new friends everyday and we are willing to play anywhere, with anyone, at anytime. as a once big time rock and roll band said: "let the music do the talking".what some people have said about us:"perfect punk rock with hints of ska and some amazing poppy hooks" - fudge fanzine"fivefingerdiscount have a sound that makes you want to dance. catchy punk rtyhms and good time music are what this band are all about" - sam"nice, simple punk rock that's aces and addictive" - matt"poppy punk with more hooks than a fishing trip" - kyle"you guys remind me of the stooges, fuckin ace man!!" - liquid soundWhat does it sound like? an unholy war between the smurfs and the oompa-loompas!"nice.onstage about 9pm, sat 11th march, moorings: five finger discount + blitzhoney and headliners le reno amps (first gig in the deen as a four piece!)
