kirsten
I think part chimp played a couple of years ago. And Bill Callahan was probably never playing. Going to see him in February though. Looks like Bill played it in 2011, some nice videos on youtube from the show. Oh yeah, February. Ah well, I can wait. Woodsinho
You got my hopes up that Part Chimp were still doing things there but they aren't and now I'm sad again. Un-ace-ic. BETTER NOW.

Paranoid Android
I was about to express some extreme jealousy and call some people cunts for getting to see Bill Callahan. However I've just seen that he is in fact playing here in February too. What's more finding that out led me to seeing that The Tallest Man On Earth is playing here in only 2 weeks! Why had no one told me THAT before? So now Kirsten and James Broonbreed I'd like to tell you that you are the best people on this board. 1 caveat, the Callahan gig is on a Wednesday and I'll probably have to get away from work early in order to make it. So there is a chance I may start calling people cunts again.
ca_gere
Rock Austin (from on here fame) coming to visit me in Poland and bringing loads of whisky and butteries. And tunnocks tea cakes. Hero. Edited November 15, 2013 by ca_gere

James Broonbreed
I just assume everyone goes to the same gigs as me. Here's some Smog to alleviate the desire to call folk cunts. Edited November 15, 2013 by James Broonbreed
Paranoid Android
If you want you could make your assumption correct by the simple action of buying me a return flight to Glasgow for the weekend of the show.

Paranoid Android
So a few weeks ago a parody video of Ben Klock's Boiler Room set was put online. It's basically the original video where you can see him DJing and the crowd dancing behind him but the audio has been changed. The first few minutes really just take the piss out of minimal techno with various noises and bleeps and bloops but about the 4 minute mark it kicks in to the grandstand theme tune which amazingly fits the tempo of the dancers and Klock's actions with the equipment. I'd forgotten just how great the grandstand song is by the way. Here's the video And so a few days he actually played grandstand while DJing at the liquid rooms in Edinburgh. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10153523533730305&set=vb.555070304&type=2&theater I wish I'd been there. Now every techno night I go to I'm going to be longing for old bbc theme tunes. Edited November 20, 2013 by Paranoid Android

ca_gere
I find Boiler Room sets really funny to watch. People dancing should never be that well lit, It just magnifies that internal stuggle they're having, battling between self-consciousness and a sense of 'fuck I'm so cool right now'. It's poetic.
Paranoid Android
They are quite weird. I rarely watch the videos, just download the podcasts. I find the posing too annoying most of the time.
TR!ΔNGL€ T€€TH
I never knew that the Grandstand theme had a guitar solo in it.
Teabags
The parody music is hilarious. The whole thing looks like a bunch of extras have been shoved in a room and told "look like you're really enjoying yourself." For the camera. Scootray
I remember watching a Richie Hawtin Boiler Room set and this poor drunk girl was trying to get his attention by dancing as close and as seductively as possible. He probably fucked her afterwards, but he was far too involved in his set to be dealing with her at the time. Teabags
From watching that video, I just think they're all facing a wall. There's probably a crowd behind the camera, but its better to think that they are all, in fact, enjoying themselves staring at a wall. Soda Jerk
The combination of coffee and doughnuts. Why haven't we, the human race, been doing this the whole time? Good job I, like, totally invented it.
