Pierre Von Mondragon
'Avalon' by Roxy Music is even worse than that, its all poor flaccid soul-boy funk, apart from the ace chord change when he sings the title, and that only happens for about 3% of the song, what a waste of a good progression. Rant out.

Pierre Von Mondragon
Not to mention that the ignorant credit Clapton with the slide solo rather than the genius of Duane.

Sam 45
Interpol to an extent. They write some killer choruses. Definately agree with the Placebo suggestion.

Huw
Anything by Kelly Clarkson. Ha! I think pretty much every pop song ever will suffer from tis problem to an extent.Other ones that I can remember are"Beds Are Burning" - Midnight OilBon Jovi and a lot of that Stadium Rock kinda stuff. One of the best recent choruses I've heard is JoFo's End and Everything after, but admittedly that is all good. Bigsby
Ha! I think pretty much every pop song ever will suffer from tis problem to an extent.Dunno about that. Think about Baby One More Time, Can't Get You Out of My Head, Eternal Flame, Kiss, Another Brick in the Wall, Mrs Robinson, Jailhouse Rock etc etc. Sure, they've all got a main "hook", but when I started the thread I was thinking particularly of songs that were still hits despite the verse being a bit crap.
