Chris
The Queen Vic pub quiz is the hardest one I've been to. Really solid and very serious. As a quiz should be.

Paranoid Android
I won prizes the first two times I went to the snafu quiz, first time was for winning it and the second time was a booby prize for second last. The strange thing was my team's scores weren't too different each time. It was just like all the smart arse folk had taken a week off the first time I went. This was a few years ago, no idea if they still do one.Holburn Bar does one on Thursday nights which used to not be too bad.

Guest Gladstone
FAO Historians.Looking for a good book on the russian revolution. Without sounding like the guy from Little Britian, i was hoping it would cover the situation in russia at the time for some context and also delve into the people who were responsible and give a bit of background on them, Stalin, Lenin, trotsky, etc. From the ones i've looked at so far they seem to lack this sort of stuff and just give the events rather than any kind of background. So i'm looking more for a history text than a storyline.EDIT: If it could be as close to impartial as it can get that would be great too. This is a big ask i reckon so just going on a hope that someone folk might have a good idea. Thanks.I bought a book once which was about both Russia and Nazi Germany - I got a bit bored of it and didn't read all the way through. Something I'll come back to at some stage. It might be the sort of thing you're looking for actually. This is the fucker:http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dictators-Hitlers-Germany-Stalins-Russia/dp/0140281495/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1317982639&sr=8-

Jaaakkkeee
What's a good, new-ish comic book/graphic novel series I can bite my teeth in to? I'm looking to get a few of the stand alone Batman and superman ones but I want something different. Maybe similar to Scott Pilgrim?andHas anyone read the Ring books? Are they scary? I want to read them but I'm a fraidy-cat.

Flights
Has anyone read the Ring books? Are they scary? I want to read them but I'm a fraidy-cat.I've only read the first one, it's pretty good, it has a different feel from the films though. Ending is different but I prefer it. As for being scary, its about on the same level as the films. Theres a few disturbing bits that they've left out of the film but they're not really scary. The translation is good but as I often find with translated works it lacks a wee bit of passion. I read it on a train to and from Newcastle and it passed the time pretty quickly. If you liked the movies you would probably like it.
Jaaakkkeee
The American one traumatised me as a kid and I've never watched it since. The second was a let down. I can't pick up the courage to watch the Japanese ones. I woke up to it on channel 4 one early morning, saw someone crying in a shower, turned it over as soon as I could and never looked back, but the books are meant to be really great. jcn
How do I get to Maryculter? I don't drive, the only bus service I can find is the 204 and it only goes from Maryculter into Aberdeen in the morning, then from Aberdeen to Maryculter at night. Paranoid Android
Was there an original shop that was just called Mike's Fish and Chips and then they found fame and expanded? If no one can answer this they are obviously undeserving of the name.
