Jaaakkkeee
I always mean to have one pint and go home. I don't think I've ever done it though.This.Also, if someone came off a boat and the first thing they did was head to the casino and spend £60. Would you say they had a bit of a gambling problem? If someone's gasping for a fag you'd say they're addicted. Because of social standards, acute addiction to alcohol is over looked. "I deserve a pint after a hard days work" translates as "I need an excuse to drink every night after work". It's a real problem.

I know people who do but then they get skint or have something else to do and they don't, they also don't then down a bottle of Listerine. I wouldn't say that person had a gambling addiction at all. Some people certainly have issues with alcohol, absolutely no one is disagreeing with you, its your high horse believes that are pissing people off.
Stroopy121
This. Also, if someone came off a boat and the first thing they did was head to the casino and spend £60. "I deserve a pint after a hard days work" translates as "I need an excuse to drink every night after work". It's a real problem. There is no such thing as a sweet tooth, only sugar addiction. People who "can't function without their morning coffee" have a caffiene addiction. Addiction is everywhere in our society. Forcing people behind closed doors isn't a viable option as it will do nothing but encourage binge culture.Furthermore, there is a world of difference between wanting a pint and needing one. Pints are delicious, refreshing and relaxing. They also form part of a social experience should you so desire.Yes, alcohol can also ruin lives and kill people, but you're arguing as though you believe that it's impossible to want to drink without being addicted. I can't get to the pub/beer garden fast enough on a sunny Sunday afternoon. I enjoy a glass of wine while out for a meal with my wife. And in the past I have also went out of my way to drink until I did something stupid. Banning public drinking will destroy the only positives from alcohol consumption and enforce the negative. It's a stupid fucking argument, Jake.xx

Stroopy121
Oh, also,"I deserve a pint after a hard days work" translates as "I need an excuse to drink every night after work". It's a real problem. What you're talking about here is sometimes referred to as "functional alcoholism". Falls under the same category as the rig-pig type mentality where there are two sober, hard working weeks offshore, then two blistering drunk rampaging weeks at home. Yes it's a problem, it's a big fat stinking problem because it's so hard to define. BUT, habitually having a beer to unwind after work isn't anything like the same thing as functional alcoholism... having a wank every day doesn't make you a sex addict, is it?xx

The Milner
This is so pointless, your arguing with someone who up till 6 months ago would get shitfaced whenever possible, now after 6 months of not drinking it all should be banned. There is no issue with someone coming off a 3 month stint on a boat to have a pint, there is nothing wrong with going in past the pub on the way home to have a quick pint with your mates before heading home, there is nothing wrong with wanting to go have a pint full stop.Yes there are issues with drinking, but none of them are the issue. We could all cite examples of people we know who do all of the above who do not have an alchohol problem. To think otherwise is fucking crazy, but in this situation it seems to be more about taking a moral high ground than actually realising the issues that exist in society. Soda Jerk
I've never said I follow straight edge. I drink coffee and don't stick to a vegetarian diet.Straight edge is open to intepretation these days, But I don't think vegetarianism was ever a part of it, and it's always been debated whether or not Coffee is completely excluded. It probably isn't.Straight Edge is ridiculous anyway. If folk don't wanna do certain stuff, then that's great for them and their ethics/health etc. There's just no need for the constant inyourface reminders, like bands labelling themselves as straight edge, or Straight Edge people wearing t shirts that tell the whole fucking world that they are "DRUGxFREExTILxDEATH". That's dumb, and needless. It's supposed to be for personal gain, but it seems to be utilised as some kind of badge of honour which immediately makes you better than those who don't abstain to substances. Fuck you. There was once some Straight Edge kid on GMTV, who went on about it like some pretentious little scrote, pretty much thrusting hismelf as better than non-Straight Edge folk. He was 16, and not old enough to drink anyway. What a fucking prat. The programme then went on to show video footage of this kid "moshing" and "slam dancing" in public places, like on the street, in the park, in a shop etc. You sure you're better than us? Even uncontrollably drunk people don't look that fucking moronic.

Soda Jerk
I packed all mine into two jumbo suitcases. I would advise not doing this. It got so heavy that the wheels on both suitcases shattered.

neepheid
I am considering multiple bags for life, but I am worried that the CD's might rattle about too much.Don't use bags - I have lots of boxes that flat screen monitors came in, I moved my CDs in these and once full they were heavy, but not unreasonably so. Should get a good couple of hundred in each box. You're welcome to as many boxes as you need, I have them flattened.
Chris
Get some archive boxes from an office if you can. Really strong and can hold the weight with no problems.
