Paranoid Android
I like the Stepbrothers album but wouldn't call it great.
kirsten
The Sugarhill Gang are playing at King Tut's in July. Could be incredible. Could not be.
Murrr
I've been listening to the album on Spotify on your recommendation because I really liked that Step Master song a couple of months ago. The whole thing is ace. Really odd to hear all the weird snippets of British people in amongst the rappinz. Yeahhh, I love it. It's great. The odd British aesthetic is weird -- if you get hold of a physical copy, have a chortle at the inner outwork. Evidence in tennis clothes, hanging out in a grand living room. The CD sleeve is faux velvet too, which is lovely. You can tell they had a lot of fun making this album, especially when Alchemist says he's gonna "karate chop your nipple off your chest." Murrr
That's affa good. Will check out the album. I'm currently still all about Maffew Ragazino. New Mixtape came out recently. Some HEAVY ones on it. I think the little write-up in the link below sums him up nicely. No gimmicks, no forced image... just great rhymes. http://www.vibe.com/article/new-mixtape-maffew-ragazino-brownsvilles-jesus REAL GOOD. Heard this bloke on the last Roc Marciano release, thought he was pretty dece. Thanks for sharing. Reckon me and my mate are going to do a podcast where we talk about hip-hop in ridiculous depth for two hours. It's going to be glorious nerdy, off-putting and awkward. Will share here. Murrr
https://soundcloud.com/bishopnehru/bishop-nehru-you-stressin The above is pretty good in my opinion. I think this bloke is really young. Like, incredibly young. YoungA young. 16 I think. Either way, this is enjoyable. His mixtape last year was pretty good too, especially when you take his age into account.
Murrr
Has anyone given the Isaiah Rashad album/mixtape/demo thing a listen? I thought it was pretty dull on the first few listens, but it's slowly coming to life. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dl14QAqrvAM

I'd be chuffed if you read it and told me what you think. I'm very new to this malarkey, so anything barring insults would be useful. Cheers bluds.
Soda Jerk
That's a mighty good piece. I dig your writing. I was awfully fond of your Serie A blog from many moons ago too. This was educational n'all. I wasn't overly familiar with KMD, or what MF Doom had done before Operation Doomsday. I would certainly read more of hip-hop columns, if there are to be any.

ca_gere
A simple formula (Mos Def + Marvin Gaye can't be bad) and i'm enjoying it very much so far http://amerigo.bandcamp.com/album/yasiin-gaye-the-departure-side-one
Murrr
Cheers ladz. I will do more. Has anyone got the new Schoolboy Q album yet? It was one of my most anticipated albums of the year. Really doesn't sound like I expected it would, but it's definitely good.

Murrr
A simple formula (Mos Def + Marvin Gaye can't be bad) and i'm enjoying it very much so far http://amerigo.bandcamp.com/album/yasiin-gaye-the-departure-side-one Real good. This has been played a lot so far this week, as the ScHoolboy Q album has bored my tits off. Also, this is great: http://www.datpiff.com/CyHi-The-Prynce-Black-Hystori-Project-mixtape.584369.html It's amazing how good mixtapes really have to be these days. You can't just put out some dopey rhymes over other peoples' beats any more. The above is an album-quality release, for sure.

Alkaline
Still loving Bishop Nehru's stuff. It is amazing how young he is as his material definitely seems matured and composed for his age.

Don't like the beat either. He's still flowing though.
