Guest lime ruined my life
i have a 4x10 marshall jtmc410 cab. with my amp set to farely bedroom volumes on clean it sounds fine.sometimes when the volumes higher it sounds like one of the cones is crackly.when i turn up the gain it sounds like someone farting through a megaphone.when i put it through a 2x12 cab it sounded like a normal overdriven guitar sound.how do i test to see which/if the speakers are fucked, and whats a good website/speaker cone for a replacement.(i think i have "gold backs" just now)thanks. Guest Electric Tibet
I had a similar peoblem with my 2X12You could try putting your head up to the cab, or to save your hearing, use a mic to record each speaker. I was able to swap the wiring between the speakers to check there wasn't a fault there. Don't know how difficult this is to do with a 4X10 (series/parallel wiring etc)It could be just the type of speakers. my burman is really fussy about cabs - it hates the laney 4X12's in Toms - they just fart out and theres no headroom. the cabs seem to work fine with the matching heads.Try watford valves Hot rox
Guest lime ruined my life
maybe its just the burman then.boo. i might sell the cab and find a new partner for it.dont suppose you know what cab is the match for my burman? its one of those single channel with 3 gain stages mini ones. but you know that already.guts. David
try using the cab with a different amp head then, to see if that makes any differencethe idea of recording each speaker individually is a good one though (as long as you have access to a mic and something to record with) David
